We are glad to inform you about the release of the anniversary version Algorius Net Viewer 10.0.
It is an anniversary version, which means there will be gifts!
First, we are happy to announce the free version of Algorius Net Viewer. You can use this version for unlimited time. The free version allows opening up to 5 maps of computer networks, adding up to 25 devices to each map, monitoring up to 25 hosts, creating up to 25 inventory cards, and viewing reports for 1 month.
Secondly, meet the new type of license — Annual with a validity period of 1 to 3 years. The cost of licenses of this type is 3 times lower than that of similar perpetual licenses.
And of course, there are many new features and changes in the application itself. We would especially like to mention the updated Inventory module, support for layers, and improved work with reports.
Let’s consider the main ones.
Updated Inventory Module
The Inventory module in this version has been significantly reworked and improved. For example, the functionality of the 'Inventory Wizard' is distributed among individual operations for more comfortable work.
The concept of 'Inventory Card', which stores information about computer software and hardware, has been introduced. Inventory cards are now not only created automatically by scanning equipment, but can also be created manually and assigned to any device on the map.
The 'Inventory Tree' has been introduced, which displays a list of all cards with filtering and sorting options.
Inventory cards can be edited and supplemented with your own data – for example, you can specify serial numbers, indicate the cost and date of purchase of equipment, etc. There are almost unlimited possibilities for record keeping. For example, you can create and maintain equipment repair logs, furniture and other equipment accounting, various specifications, etc.
All inventory cards are stored in a database. Information in inventory cards is stored in a structured form. All elements in the cards are divided into sections; for example, monitors, printers, processors, etc. For each element, various attributes – for example, serial number or date of purchase – are indicated. The entire structure can be customized, expanded, and modified in the 'Inventory Sections' window. In fact, the Inventory Sections window is a database editor that creates, modifies, or deletes tables and columns in a database, in which the data of inventory cards are stored, allowing to customize the data accounting to fit one’s needs.
After the re-scanning of devices, information about missing elements is no longer deleted, but is marked as not actual. Not actual items are displayed in gray in the editor and are not displayed in reports. T he state actual/ not actual can be fixed for each element. Fixing the ‘actual’ state is useful for items that are either present or missing. For example, a printer or an external sound card, which is only detected when devices are scanned. At the same time, if you want this printer or sound card to be displayed as always present at this PC, then you can fix them as 'actual'. Fixing in the 'not actual' status is useful for unimportant elements that are not required to be displayed in reports, such as software (virtual disks, printers) or for elements that do not need to be displayed in reports for security purposes. In this case, you can fix the required element the 'not actual' state, and it will not be displayed in reports, but will be available in the application interface.
Meet a new functional module at your disposal – Layers. Use layers to create beautiful and convenient network cards, navigate through devices, and group objects by their parameters, placing objects in different layers. Each computer network card may contain a unique hierarchical structure of layers.
Work with layers is carried out in the layer tree, which is located in the left part of the main application window. In the layer tree, all layers created for the current computer network map are displayed in a structured form. Under each layer is a list of child layers and all objects on the map located in this layer.
Selecting a layer in the layer tree makes this layer active. New objects on the map are added to the active layer by default. When an object is selected in a layer, this object is selected on the network map. Double click on the object navigates to this object on the network map. This greatly simplifies navigation to objects. Double clicking on a layer selects all objects inside this layer. This allows quickly selecting a group of objects. Selecting an object on the network map automatically selects it in a layer and makes the layer in which it is located active.
Layers affect the order in which objects appear on the map. For example, the devices located in the upper layer are displayed on the network map above those located in the lower layer. A check box to the left of the layer in the layer tree turns on and off the display of objects of this layer on the computer network map.
To move objects from one layer to another, use the clipboard or the Drag & Drop operation in the layer tree, or select the required objects on the computer network map and select the desired layer in their context menu.
The collection of devices is constantly updated thanks to your requests. In this version, it has been replenished with 22 devices, and now the total number in the collection is more than 150 devices.
The list of new devices:
- Computers: VPN server.
- Network: GPON splitter, GPON terminal, GPON unit, Grid-tie inverter, VPN router.
- Peripherals: Accumulator, IPTV media player, Microphone, PLC adapter, USB sound card.
- Rack: Rack GPON terminal, Rack VPN.
- Schema: GPON splitter, Wi-Fi point.
- Security: GSM signaling, IP barrier.
- Structures: Solar panel, Wind generator.
- Trade: Cash desk on-line.
- VoIP: VoIP microphone, VoIP recorder.
In this version, in addition to maintaining hourly statistics of the monitoring log, the opportunity to keep daily statistics has been added. Records for each device and each scanning method are automatically grouped. And the less records you have, the faster reports are generated. During grouping of records, statistics are saved: the number of scans, the minimum and maximum values, the moments of state changes, error codes, etc. Thus you can quickly generate accurate reports and charts. In the logging settings, you can specify which records should be grouped hourly or daily and which should not be grouped at all, and maintain a detailed log.
