Meet Algorius Net Viewer 2024.11.1

Algorius Net Viewer 2024.11.1

We’re pleased to introduce the newest version of Algorius Net Viewer. It includes numerous innovations and improvements aimed at enhancing performance, expanding functionality, and improving compatibility with various operating systems.

Let's take a closer look at the main changes.

Wine Support for UNIX-like OS

Algorius Net Viewer can now be installed and run on UNIX-like OS such as GNU/Linux, thanks to the integration with Wine. This expands the platform capabilities of our product, which allows users to work in environments other than Windows without losing functionality.

Despite the successful integration, some users may encounter minor limitations typical of running applications through Wine. These include incompatibility for certain features or the need for additional configuration. We are continuing to work on improving compatibility and plan to release updates that will enhance our product's performance and stability on Linux.

Upgrading to .NET 8.0

We've upgraded the platform to .NET 8.0, which significantly improves application performance. The new framework also enhances compatibility with Wine, which is particularly important for users working on Linux. If your system does not have .NET 8.0, the Algorius Net Viewer installer will automatically download its distribution from the Microsoft website and offer to install it.

Upgrading to PowerShell Core

To provide more flexible automation, Algorius Net Viewer now uses PowerShell Core. This change expands scripting capabilities and improves compatibility with Wine.

Please note that some changes have been made to the new version of PowerShell. For example, Get-WmiObject has now been replaced by Get-CimInstance. This may require you to update the scripts you use. You can learn more about the changes in PowerShell on the Microsoft website:

Arial Font

We have chosen Arial as the default font for all objects on the map. We did so to ensure better visual compatibility and readability across different platforms, including Linux. Arial is a widely supported font that ensures consistent display regardless of the operating system used. If you like, you can choose any other font installed on your system.

Inventory Agent as Service

The Inventory Agent can now be run as a Windows service. This allows for the agent to be automatically started at system boot and operate in the background. The service is started by the full path to the agent location, so the agent file should not be deleted. By default, the service runs as the System user, so InventoryAgent.exe must be accessible to the system user. You can change the user in the service settings if required.

If you find any errors in the application's functioning, or have suggestions for its improvement, we are always glad to hear about them. This helps us enhance the product’s quality and develop it taking into account your suggestions.
