Algorius Net Viewer Manual | SNMP MIB Browser

General info

SNMP MIB browser is the convenient tool for network administrator to use in Algorius Net Viewer. You can use it to check the structure of MIB files, current values of MIB objects for selected devices, choose OID to configure SNMP sensor.

Application includes MIB file according to RFC1213 standard. You can use it to browse device info, tables of network interfaces and TCP connections etc.

MIB files can be downloaded at the websites of network equipment manufacturers.

Start

There are two ways to start SNMP MIB Browser:

  • In OID selection mode — in this case only MIB file tree is shown and information about each element of a tree. In order to launch browser in this mode click OID selection button in SNMP sensor settings, select the required OID in the tree and click OK.
  • In SNMP values mode — in this case along with MIB files tree browser also shows current values of SNMP objects for selected device. In order to launch browser in this mode select MIB Browser in device context menu. It is located in Standard group by default. SNMP connection parameters are taken from sensor of selected device. If there is no SNMP scanning for a device, then parameters are taken from SNMP sensor in application settings.

SNMP MIB browser window consists of 3 major sections:

Toolbar

Toolbar includes following elements:

Open
Select MIB file and add it to the tree.
Ctrl+O
Close
Close current MIB file and delete it from the tree.
Ctrl+W
Close all
Close all open MIB files and delete them from the tree.
Ctrl+Shift+W
Expand
Expand all elements of current MIB file in the tree.
Ctrl+Plus
Collapse
Collapse all elements of current MIB file in the tree.
Ctrl+Minus
Print
Print the data about current element of the tree. Preview window will be shown, where you can select a printer, set up print parameters and start printing.
Ctrl+P
Export to CSV
Export the data about current tree element to CSV file. This file can be then opened in text editor or Excel.
Get values
Get the current SNMP values of the selected tree element. It is available only if SNMP MIB Browser is launched in SNMP values mode.

Using MIB Files Tree

Click Open button in toolbar or in context menu of MIB files tree to open a MIB file. Select the required MIB file. Then application will parse the file and show its elements in the tree.

Select a MIB file in the tree and click Close in context menu or in toolbar to close the MIB file.

In order to expand or collapse the whole tree of a MIB file, click Expand or Collapse in context menu or on toolbar.

Select an element of a MIB file to check its data. Information will be shown in the main panel of the window. Full name of a current element, OID value and description (if exists in MIB file) are shown.

Checking SNMP Values

SNMP values are shown only if SNMP MIB Browser is launched in SNMP values mode. In order to get the SNMP values of a current object double-click it in the tree or select it and click Get values on the toolbar. Data can be shown in list or table view depending on the element type.
